*Navalgazing* Reflections at 21 (+1) Weeks Pregnant

Not too many changes this week, other than that Sprout seems to have been especially active.  I can feel her "kicking" on my left side at various points throughout the day and every once in a while I feel what I can only imagine is her rolling around deeper inside my stomach.  (It's a very odd sensation.)

It's been quite hot again, so I've been somewhat uncomfortable.  My legs and feet continue to feel swollen by the end of the day (though they don't really look it) and I think I'm going to try wearing running shoes rather than my Birkenstocks and see if that helps at all.

I picked up a bunch of sleepers and onesies and just a few outfits from a woman who was selling them on Craigslist.  I got them for a very good price and she even said that she'd let me know when she was ready to sell her little girl's summer clothing.  Her baby was born this past January so I figure it's a fairly safe bet sizing-wise.  My sister also gave us a bag of girly things she's picked up from Goodwill.  We're building a wardrobe!  We'll have to figure out how we're going to share the dresser.  It kind of makes me regret getting the smaller dresser when building the nursery, but I'm sure we'll make due.

We've started giving some thought to what we're going to need for this little one's arrival.  Though we plan on having her co-sleep with us for the first several months, we will need a second crib and crib mattress (The Bean moves around so much at night that I can't imagine putting him in a bed anytime soon).  The need for a double stroller is up in the air.  And if we do get one, there's the question of which one to get.  Any imput from other moms/dads out there is welcome!  Beyond those two bigger items, there doesn't seem to be anything essential.  Are we forgetting anything obvious?

  4. The feeling of movements is the best! We have friends with twins in a mountain buggy double that they really love. They also have a three year old (and one year old twins!) and he rides in one of the seats comfortably too when they wear one of the babies. Strollers are so hard to choose though! Good luck!

  5. I also love when you can finally feel movement! It was so great seeing you guys. You're looking great!

As for strollers, the Baby Jogger City Select has been great. It is a double stroller on a single frame. You can make it into a single stroller if you're out with just one kid. It can also be a snap n go, which makes things so much easier during those first several months. I've heard good things about the City Mini too, although the tires are pretty tiny so I would imagine that winter walking would be a challenge.

    1. Hey Ashliegh, do you thing the BJCS would fit in the back of our Ford Focus (sedan)?

  6. I don't have any experience with double strollers because we're still ttc #2, but I have seen a lot of this style rolling around: http://www.walmart.com/ip/Graco-RoomFor2-Stand-and-Ride-Stroller-Metropolis/19852876

    1. Thanks for the suggestion, Brooke. I've looked at that style too, I just don't know if The Bean will always be okay standing... something to think about...

  7. We have a Jeep double stroller that has hardly been used at all that you can have for free if you want it. It's a side-by-side one but folds up pretty small for the car. We didn't find we needed the double stroller very often but it's nice to have one for trips where a lot of walking is involved for the older child. This one wouldn't be of any use to you until the baby is big enough to sit up as it's an umbrella-style stroller, but it might come in handy then. If you want it, FB me and we can get together sometime. I think this is it but ours is black and green: http://www.amazon.com/Jeep-Wrangler-All-Weather-Umbrella-Stroller/dp/B001CSO1FO

  8. I kept feeling like I was forgetting something while pregnant w DS2, but really, we reused our cloth diapers and clothes and everything else. I bought him a new baby carrier just so he would have SOMETHING that wasn't 2nd or 3rd hand.

Do you have good nursing bras? That was our biggest investment.
